Vernissage THE SEASON OF COLOURS

It is a great honour to welcome Ştefan Pelmuş in the art residence Aubach Embassy of Art.

Ştefan Pelmuş is one of the most significant and interesting contemporary artists of Romania. He studied at the Romanian Academy of Arts “Nicolae Grigorescu” in Bucharest under the professors Ion Sălişteanu and Ilie Pavel and has been a member of the Romanian Union of Artists since 1980.

His works have been exhibited in single and collaborative exhibitions of museums in Romania, France, Germany, Israel, Canada, Austria, Chile, and Brazil. In 1994, he won the “Gh Patrascu” award and the award “Gh Theodorescu”. He received the award for painting by the Uniunea Artiștilor Plastici din România in 1995.

Ştefan Pelmuş’ creations are complex, opulent, and moving. The cheerful intensity of his colours with the archaic shapes and symbols create in his paintings a vibrant blend that touches the different eras of art history. He chooses the colours of Romanian folk art and blends symmetrical compositions, cyrillic letters, profiled creatures and repetitive elements from various cultures. The themes of his art radiate the warmth and love for life indwelling the man Pelmuș, the language of his paintings is the language of his heart.
